We would like to thank everyone that contributed to the ‘Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health’ documentary. There is no better time to talk about your mental health, than right now. That first conversation can open so many doors.

Amazon wishlist for much-needed school books

Amazon wishlist for much-needed school books

Posted: 20th November 2019

Parents are gifting much-needed books to their child’s class after a school set up an online wish list.

With budgets within schools stretched further than ever, parents at Magna Carta Primary Academy are being given the opportunity to offer gifts of vital reading material to support their child’s studies.

An Amazon wish list has been populated with hundreds of book titles to benefit each class.

Within three days of its launch, 22 books had been purchased and gifted to the school.

Headteacher Marios Solomonides, BMAT primary curriculum leader, said: “Every day since we launched the wish list, we have received deliveries of much-needed books.

“During my curriculum work for the Trust, I put together a list of all of the books primary aged children should be exposed to. I have added all of those to the Amazon wish list.

“It is brilliant. Parents often come to us and say they would like to buy something for the school. Now, instead of just saying ‘please buy us books’ and leaving it to them to choose, they can buy us exactly what we need.

“There are so many brilliant books out there and our children need to be introduced to them. Books are so expensive, but Amazon is very competitively priced. For parents to be able to give something like books to their child’s class gives them a good feeling. I am sending thank you notes to all of the families supporting us in this way.

“This is us letting our families know the most important thing any of us can do with them is to read.”

You can support the school by buying books on Amazon –
