Today is very special... the Very Hungry Caterpillar is celebrating his 50th anniversary! It's the first book we remember getting from our nursery library 😍 In tribute to Eric Carle's creation, we're going to copy his meal plan (though hopefully not the stomach ache). https://t.co/SbYzZWWrbp

Why do I write children's books? Because they're the most important books of all – the ones that make us readers & stay with us forever. And you can read them at any age. Children's books are really BOOKS FOR EVERYONE! https://t.co/I0v9rgIAfF (Art: Quentin Blake) https://t.co/RUKPFVVhmj

The Legacy of Stephen Lawrence Truthfulness, Fairness and Respect

The lessons of fairness and respect must start early if we are to have a truly fair and civilised society, free from discrimination where we all play our part as active citizens. It is my belief that these values are strongest when anchored and embedded into a school's culture and explicitly taught through the curriculum. My vision is that Stephen's Annual National Day will serve as a focus for your school community to engage in activities that empower young people to live their best life.                                                                                                                                                                                      Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon OBE (Stephen's mum)

When pupils reach Year 2 at Magna Carta they become anti-bullying ambassadors an accolade which they carry with them as they move up through the school years. Every new year 2 class will all become anti-bullying ambassadors resulting in a school filled with them.

This will happen on or around Stephen Lawrence Day (22nd April) every year.

We have to remain positive; the world is filled with wonderful, kind, caring people. There is far more good in this world than bad. It is our duty as educators to ensure that our curriculum explicitly teaches pupils about peacefully fighting against hatred.
